Learn a little bit about the Glenstar Team!

Len and Betty Hanson have been involved in Breeding and Showing Dogs since
purchasing their first puppy in 1978. Luke was a yellow Labrador who went on
to be the first of many show champions from the Glenstar Kennel.
During this time we were also introduced to the sport of Field Trailing.
Unfortunately time does not permit us to be actively involved with this past
time at the moment. But we breed our dogs to be dual purpose Labradors and
Len does take one or two out shooting occasionally.
Over the past 30 years we have handled many different breeds of dogs but
have a special interest in the Gundog breeds as Betty starts this year on a
path towards gaining her Show Judges accreditation.
Both our daughters are also involved in the dog world. Desiree involved with
showing, agility and breeding of her border collies. Desiree has worked in a
boarding kennel and is currently employed as a vet nurse/dog groomer.
Aleisha was awarded the title of New Zealand Junior Handler of the Year and
went to Cruft's in England to represent New Zealand at the most prestigious
dog show in the world. This gave her the
opportunity to learn how to handle any bred of dog given to her. Aleisha
assists in the kennels when her studies permit. Aleisha owns an American
Cocker Spaniel whom I am sure most visitors to the kennels will meet.
Visitors during the week will also meet Gail who is experienced in handling
all types of dogs. Gail enjoys taking her own dogs to obedience training and
the new sport of Rollo. During the evenings and weekends we also have Cheryl
with us as she continues her veterinary nurse studies.
We are also lucky to have a very good veterinary support team should there
be a problem that needs urgent attention.
Opening Glenstar Kennels is an extension of our hobby and passion.
